And now, for the exciting conclusion:

Well, after working on those lovely instructions for our technophobic clients, we got another call from my coworker – the one who called me on the way to the client site to let me know what he needed before he got there. Well, apparently, he crashed the infrastructure – bringing the whole school offline. (oops.)

It seems that the TI line was plugged directly into their firewall because the box had an internal router. But, the firewall he was installing did not have a router, nor did the school own a separate router. So, he unplugged the old decrepit Linux box in order to make room in the case for our shiny new firewall (maybe he was going to use the old box as a router? Who knows…) he didn't shut it down, he just pulled the plug. Unfortunately, when he went to reconnect everything – the old box was dead. The hard drive had had an aneurysm.

And, those nice instructions? Vetoed. We'll just get the IP Addresses from the ISP. Apparently, there's more than one way to skin a wild goose chase.
