Happiness? Who needs it...
Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.

... actually, to take "intelligence" out of the picture, psychological studies show that the people who can delude themselves or effectively live in denial are generally happier than than those who are considered 'realists'. IOW people who have realistic perspectives about their situations tend to succumb to depression. Depressing, isn't it?
Personally, I've come to realize that "Happiness" is hollow. Who wants happiness? It's a hollow charade. Rather, one should strive to attain Peace.... and perhaps, at times Joy.
